I completely agree with the author that prosecuting drug-addicted mothers, especially targeting impoverished Black women, reflects systemic racism and a devaluation of Black motherhood. Instead of tackling root societal issues, punitive actions only continue the cycle of injustice and marginalization. It’s frustrating to witness how our society treats marginalized communities, perpetuating harmful cycles. We need to prioritize and invest in practical, long-term solutions rather than resorting to ineffective and unjust methods like racially biased prosecutions.
